Week 6!

Approaching the end of Week 6 here at camp, and still going strong!

At both camps, Banquet preparations are well underway, with scenery and props being made to re-create the Roaring 20’s (Whip) and the film Inception (Lincoln). Both camps had hikers achieve the rare “50-er” milestone, which is the summiting of not only the original 46 Adirondack High Peaks, but also the next four highest. Well done! Back in camp itself, Mixed Battleship Newcomb (ask your kids!) was a big hit, and last night, all campers and staff gathered on Birdie Beach for a delightful open-air Concert.

Whip campers and staff made friendship bracelets and chose their “Peanut Present” recipients, while Lincoln woodworkers and auto enthusiasts designed, built, and painted their hot rods for the annual Pinewood Derby. Both work groups honed their carpentry skills working toward completion on the new Lincoln director’s cabin, and camp’s best sailors competed in The Naciaj, or “National” racing derby. Also on deck are the legendary traditional sail races: The Farrington Cup at Whippoorwill and The Chief’s Cup at Lincoln. Ping Pong and tetherball tournaments fed into water games, mixed open waterfront, and Super Soaker battles, and the entire population of Whippoorwill dazzled all of Augur Lake with an all-camp, all-boats “Floatchella.”

Week 7 will feature some of camp’s marquee trips, from a Lincoln Cold River and Whip Lake Colden to another mixed work group canoe journey up Long Lake and down the Raquette River.

Stay tuned for more adventures as we head into our final week. We love these kids!
